However, we're not here to talk about air filters, purifiers, or humidifiers. We are here to look at the Holmes 31 inch tower fan model.

It should be noted that Holmes consider themselves a luxury brand, and their prices will usually reflect this. The 31 inch tower fan is not different, clocking in with an astounding price tag of more than £170!

Features of Holmes Fans
The 31 inch size is quite large for a tower fan, however the slim and slender design by Holmes helps it to not take up too much space.
The slim fit makes the Holmes tower fan ideal when being packed away after being used, or even for being placed between two sofas or units in a living room.
Being an extra few inches, the fan also has a bit more of a kick to it. Boasting a little more fan power than some of the cheaper competitors can.
Like most modern tower fans, the Holmes 31 inch model does come with oscillation features, allowing it to turn on its base. Perfect for reaching an entire room.
Compared to some fans which use digital displays and remote controls, the Holmes model is very simple in design and function. You have an on button, an oscillate button, and three speed settings.

One of the better benefits of the Holmes 31 inch tower fan is that it is extremely quiet. On lower settings it can be near silent as it blows your way.

However, even on max level 3 speeds the fan doesn't produce too much of a racket. This makes it ideal for use through a hot and humid summer night's sleep.
The fan's power is also impressive, not just at cooling but at promoting a healthy air flow in an otherwise stale and stagnant room.
As you might expect from Holmes, their focus on improving a space follows this 31 inch fan and it works just as well as an air filter might in some cases.
If you need to get some air flow into a smaller room, especially offices and bedrooms, the Holmes 31 inch will do the job and do it well.
Downsides to the Holmes Fan Range
A number of issues unfortunately plague the Holmes 31 inch tower fan model, and it's not just the extortionate pricing!
Firstly, this particular Holmes product seems to be falsely advertised. On the vast majority of listings for it, the page will mention no assembly required.
However, on arrival you will not get an already fitted fan, complete and read to go. Instead, you'll end up with some assembly for the base.
Although a minor inconvenience at best, it is still not a good sign that the product is falsely advertising itself with a price like this.
Not to mention the base itself is rather thin and flimsy, leaving your Holmes 31 inch tower fan wobbling all over the place. A real disaster if you have small kids or pets running around.

While you naturally want some flexibility for the oscillation settings to work, the Holmes 31 inch model borders more on unstable than appropriately functional.
If that wasn't bad enough, the plug it comes with is a Holmes own brand fuse. You may be expecting to pay more to replace fuses, which is bad enough.
Yet somehow it manages to be even worse, as the fuses are no longer commercially available! This means you'll end up having to replace the whole plug yourself, likely with a UK 3 pin plug.
Our Review
Can we recommend the Holmes 31 inch tower fan? Is the Holmes fan worth your money, and is it worth as much money as it is asking?
We are going to give a very firm no! For the price tag, you would expect far more from Holmes. Instead, they deliver a very basic and rudimentary tower fan.
There is little impressive about the fan, and it has more problems than their cheaper competition while maintaining a very similar design!
