Checking on air quality progress can be crucial to prevent side effects like dry skin, and the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan bladeless model will help you do just that.

Dyson aren't exactly famous for making fans, but their continued dedication and innovation when it comes to household and domestic appliances is unmatched.

Compared to a previous model, the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan can seem excessively priced. Especially since this is essentially just a larger model of the Dyson pure cool fan.

The sleek looking model fan also makes an effective air purifier, serving a dual mode and function like the other powerful models on offer from Dyson.

Acting as a high end air purifier and fan all in one, is the price tag worth it? Is the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan worth the investment?

What is an Air Purifier?

Air purifiers remove pollution and invisible pollutants (such as nitrogen dioxide) from the air by physical and chemical methods, improving indoor air quality.

However, not all pollution can be removed from the air by air purifiers. Therefore, it’s crucial to know what an air purifier is and how they work.

Physical methods of removing pollutants from the air include electrostatic precipitation, activated carbon adsorption, and centrifugal separation.

The process of electrostatic precipitation involves changing voltage levels to separate pollutants based on their density of charge.

In addition, ionised activated carbon absorption uses electricity to draw out impurities from the air and create a negative electrical charge on impurities as well as a positive electrical charge on contaminants.

Centrifugal separation uses centrifugal force to separate polluted air from clean air via an external source such as a fan or a rotating drum that filters out specific contaminants from the air. This will be the method for most fans.

Cyclones used in coal plants separate coal ash from clean combustion gases for disposal via electrostatic precipitators - where impurities are attracted through an external power source based on their weight or density.

Some fans and air purifiers, including the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan, come with a carbon filter much like a power plant equips a carbon sponge.

What is Dyson Best Known For?

The company Dyson is well known for producing other home items that are indispensable to domestic life, not fans.

Dyson has built a worldwide empire in numerous regions and amassed wealth through enhancing the standard of living for homes across the globe.

Starting everything off is the vacuum hoover. Yes, methods for removing hair, dirt, and other detritus from rugs and carpeting is what really gave rise to the current scale of the multinational corporation.

Making dependable, high-quality goods and designing items that improve the consumer experience are the cornerstones of Dyson's design and product philosophies.

The time-consuming task of cleaning at home is made easier with cordless vacs, separable hoovers, and strong cyclone technologies.

Another crucial feature that prevents excessive waste when emptying the vacuum for the following clean operation is the simple change of filters.

Dyson has dominated the marketplace for all kinds of hair and beauty products especially when it comes to hair care products; from hair straighteners and heaters to styling tools and grooming manuals.

Additionally, Dyson has expanded its development portfolio to include lighting. Air management is likely the most crucial component of modern devices.

Purifier functions are integral to a quality fan, according to Dyson's own designs. The easy filter replacement of vacuums also extends to their original model fans.

Unique Features of the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan

When it comes to Dyson, cordless stick models are not usually their go-to designs. Instead, a futuristic-looking silver and white model with a cord gives the illusion of a cooler model (pun intended).

If you are wanting to monitor the quality of air in your home or office, then the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan is the fan for you.

Complete with a separate air quality monitor, this is something you won't be finding on an older, previous model with only one LCD screen.

Providing a current air quality reading, you will be notified if there is a drop in air quality as the fan constantly makes note of exterior air quality.

A record of air quality can also indicate if the air is more polluted at certain times of day, which can help you decipher where all the air pollutants are coming from.

The level of pollutants can vary, and Dyson knows this. Claims about air purifiers can vary , but Dyson shows you exactly what it is doing.

Another unique feature of the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan and other Dyson products, is the app control on offer.

While a remote control is standard with Dyson, as with any other standard plastic tower model nowadays, the Dyson link app allows smartphone control.

With smart phone control, you don't even need to worry about losing the packaged remote control. Simply open the app, and change your Dyson tower cooling fan.

This complete control is special to the Dyson Link and Dyson products, with many other luxury fans failing to properly emulate the finely tuned user experience of the Dyson app.

Benefits of the Dyson Purifying Fan

On top of direct control from your phone and tracking the level of pollutants in the air, you may be wondering what more the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan can actually do.

More than just a flexible air purifier, the quality construction of the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan means you do not need to stress about sudden and unexpected breakages.

Dyson takes quality on board their products, and since the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan is their most expensive premium product available it is only natural that it has more features than other fans on the market.

So, what screams luxury the absolute most in this product? How about a personal voice assistant to talk you through your dual function fan and purifier?

That's right, as insane as it might sound, the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan comes with an AI assistant to run you through settings, temperature and air quality changes, as well as other things.

Think about Siri in your iPhone or Cortana on your windows PC, only this is a Dyson designed assistant dedicated to just your fan.

Additionally, newer versions of Dyson fans can be controlled via voice commands through the Amazon Alexa!

Downsides to the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan

While plenty of features are great, that doesn't mean that the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan is a perfect fan by any means.

Even though it is bladeless, the maximum fan speed still ends up generating a lot of noise in the room that the fan is situated.

Fan speed is also still set by manual buttons, which are much less effective than speed dials with an established minimum speed and maximum speed.

While Dyson allows the user plenty of say and control over the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan, a dial to customise your fan settings a little more would take the concept one step further.

Some of the features are also kind of unnecessary, mainly the breakdown of temperature readings that the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan will give you.

Generally, you can tell a decent temperature from hotter temperatures physically, and don't necessarily need to know the data and numbers.

On days with cooler temperatures, you won't even need this feature anyway as you won't be setting your fan to blow cool air.

While a real time data analysis is quaint, it is hardly vital to the function of your Dyson Purifying Tower Fan.

Another problem is the Dyson "Air Multiplier™" technology. Designed with good intentions, it dramatically culls the beneficial effects of one of the main functions of your fan.

The air multiplier circulates large amounts of air over a larger space, but doing so reduces the efficiency of the purification aspect of the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan.

Particle pollutants, a gaseous pollutant, or a pollutant from cars will remain choking up your air if you use the multiplier as it is intended to be used.

The Dyson pure cool tower's dual function thus becomes null and void, as one of those functions is not even being used properly.

While the filter for gasses and airborne particulate matter can go a long way, you will have to replace them at a further cost.

So you better hope that you can use that data to figure out the source of particulate matter in your home, otherwise there will be an additional £50 every now and then.

Other Specs for the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan

The Dyson Purifying Tower Fan doesn't just purify your air, but it monitors current humidity in real time.

A drop in humidity could lead to dry skin, so having increased humidity where necessary is a very handy feature to have on your fan.

The Dyson Purifying Tower Fan lets you set a humidity target, permitting the fan to find the right level of humidity with limited input from your end.

While there is an argument over air purifiers and their efficiency, smart features such as humidity settings are less controversial.

Another cool feature of the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan is the many modes on offer, some with automation features.

Putting a fan on auto mode, for example, will have it target your setting for temperature, air quality, and humidity.

A purifier only mode is also accessible, meaning you can make use of your Dyson Purifying Tower Fan even on colder, winter days.

Other smart features include sleep mode and night mode, which lower in power over time to reduce background noise and fan speed while you sleep.

Sleep mode fan speed will rest on the minimum speed settings for a bit before shutting off, allowing you to enjoy a cool breeze for a longer time.

How Powerful is the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan?

With your choice of oscillation angle, the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan can be left running on its own for extended periods of time.

However, this does create constant noise pollution in your home. Although this is still less of a constant noise than standard bladed tower fans.

Most modern models use advanced cyclone technology that maximises airflow while minimising noise levels to just 48 decibels.

You can fit the entire base with magnets for easy assembly, and this quality fan can be a necessity for allergy friendly needs and those with asthma.

With 110 volts, the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan actually uses less power than your average fan, but still boasts fan speeds which are as good or better.

How Does a Bladeless Fan Work?

Without machine components or chopping blades, bladeless fans work by using the characteristics of air pressure and the gravitational force.

Through the aperture, air enters the sphere of the bladeless fan and forms a sluggish air-filled pocket that moves through the dome.

For Dyson, it entails making a space that is devoid of air, forcing it to try hard to fill it before being ejected and passing through the area that has to be cooled. all devoid of discernible blades.

A bladeless fan has little or no movable parts or discernible blades, in contrast to standard fans that feature continuously revolving and noisy blades.

As a result, it can operate constantly without producing the noise that a conventional fan would, with jagged blades giving the fan a more mechanical appearance.

Our Review

So the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan is certainly fancy, but is it worth an incredibly whopping £645? Honestly?

We would have to say no. While it is certainly impressive in many ways, the average tower fan customer is not going to be able to afford this thing.

If you can afford the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan, then by all means go ahead and purchase it. It certainly is one of the best fans out there on the market.

For others though, we suggest buying a middle range fan and purifier separately, as well as a humidifier if you really want.

Even when buying all three together, you will spend less than you would on the Dyson Purifying Tower Fan and the filters to replace existing ones in the future.
